Since the beginning of the year, the city has earnestly implemented the spirit of the No. 1 Central Document and the rural work conferences at both the provincial and municipal levels. With solid efforts to advance spring farming and the precise implementation of policies aimed at stabilizing production and ensuring supply, the total volume of the agricultural economy has steadily increased, marking a strong start for agricultural production. In the first quarter, the city’s total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery reached 7.61 billion yuan, representing a 4.4% increase at comparable prices—0.3 percentage points higher than the provincial average, ranking 7th in the province.
Notable Contribution from Cash Crops
As of the end of March, the city’s vegetable harvest area reached 233,000 mu (15,533 hectares), an increase of 2.0%, with a total output of 306,000 tons, up by 3.9%. Strawberry remained the dominant fruit crop, with a harvest area of 4,781 mu (319 hectares) and an output of 6,955 tons, marking increases of 10.2% and 11.6%, respectively. Tea production reached 318.4 tons, a net increase of 110.4 tons compared to the same period last year.
Steady Growth in Forestry Production
In the first quarter, the city's area of artificial afforestation was 1,094 hectares, roughly unchanged from the same period last year. Forest tending covered 11,732 hectares, an increase of 5.6%. Timber output reached 88,911 cubic meters, up by 6.0%. Large-diameter bamboo production totaled 6.983 million culms, a 7.4% increase. The total volume of forest products reached 4,195 tons, increasing by 6.1%.
Recovery and Improvement in Animal Husbandry Capacity
In the first quarter, the city produced 81,000 tons of meat, a 2.8% increase and a 6.8-percentage-point rebound from the previous year. Among this, pork output was 56,000 tons, up 0.9%; beef reached 1,100 tons, up 22.8%; mutton was 2,200 tons, up 0.3%; and poultry meat totaled 21,000 tons, increasing by 7.5%. Raw milk output reached 2,900 tons, a significant increase of 39.5%, 7.6 percentage points higher than the same period last year and 18.7 percentage points above the provincial average.
Quality and Efficiency Improvements in Aquaculture
By the end of March, the city’s integrated rice-fish (rice-shrimp) farming area exceeded 1.64 million mu (approximately 109,333 hectares), continuing to lead the province for consecutive years. In the first quarter, total aquatic product output reached 88,000 tons, a 5.1% increase—0.4 percentage points higher than the provincial average. Of this, aquaculture production accounted for 86,000 tons, up 5.3%, making up 97.9% of the total aquatic output.
