Lu’an is the national contract industry shift demonstration area in Wanjiang City Belt, Dabie Mountain Area Central City , Sub-central City in Hefei Metropolitan Area and Member City in the Yangtze River Delta City Group,it has a population of 20 million within a 100km radius, 60 million within a 200km radius and 120 million within a 300km radius. The 500-kilometer radius covers 1.02 million square kilometers in 7 provinces and 1 city in central and eastern China with a population of more than 500 million,with 50% of Gross Domestic Product and 40% of the consumer market in China.

As the National Land Transportation Hub City, Lu’an is 60 kilometers away from Hefei and is the closest prefecture-level city in Anhui Province to the provincial capital. it takes 24 minutes by high speed rail from here to Hefei. Plans are being stepped up for Lu’an-Xinqiao International Airport-Hefei Intercity High-speed Rail with a design of 350 km/hour passenger transportation standard and Hefei-Lu’an urban (suburban) railway with a total length of 65.7 km and implementation is accelerated for rapid transformation project of Hefei-Lu’an South Channel and G312 National Highway Rapid transformation project.

Railway: Hefei-Anqing High-speed Railway, Hefei-Wuhan, Nanjing-Xi'an, Fuyang-Lu’an and Hefei-Jiujiang Railway go through the City and Hefei to Wuhan section of high-speed railway along the river is being accelerated in accordance with targets for commencement construction by the end of this year. It takes 3.5 hours to Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo towards the east, 1.5 hours to Wuhan and 8 hours to Chengdu towards the west, 5 hours to Beijing, Tianjin and Qingdao  towards the north, 6 hours to Guangzhou and 7 hours to Hong Kong towards the south. Nearly 90 trains pass through and start from the City.

Highway: Lu’an has been awarded the National Highway Transport Hub City, with 4 national backbone highways such as Jinan-Guangzhou, Shanghai-Xi’an,Shanghai-Chengdu,Beijing-Taipei Highway etc. converge here and 7 national highways including 312 etc. and more than 20 provincial highways pass through here.

Aviation: only half an hour's drive from Lu’an City, Class 4E Hefei Xinqiao International Airport obtains input from more than 40 airline companies in transport capacity, with more than 90 regular lines and 60 destinations, recognized as national air freight distribution center.
